@Sevoris@mastodon.social The business world is about as silly as it seems to engineers, but they have norms that allow them to do very well that engineers are allergic to. We paid a guy A$5K for sales coaching and got A$40K within three weeks of that. When people ask me about starting a business, they go "A$5K??? No!", and I'm like "Brother, you just quit a job paying A$200K, this is peanuts" Once you deprogram yourself, you can do really well because uh, you have an engineer brain and they're weak mortals

@Sevoris@mastodon.social Of particular relevance is that I had no idea if it would work, it's just that I knew the median sale was worth about A$20K, so the coaching would have to be REALLY unlikely to help to not be worth the risk (I also cheat a lot because frankly the people reading my blog are, for the most part, extremely talented in their subdomains, so I can sort of get The Best Guy for anything. Like I might need security advice in a month, and I know @Viss@mastodon.social!
