LRT: As a technologist and an urbanist who now lives in a rural area, it's my feeling that "retro" trends tend to show up in cities first, because city people are exposed to new technologies first, and thus are the first to tire of it, and turn to other ways of relating to the physical objects of our world. For rural people, the digital age the Amazon age, has opened up a world of new goods to them they would otherwise never have been able to access. Target commoditized decent modern design.
