So, I knew that lysergic acid amide was synthesized by ergot fungi (causing st. Anthony's fire in middle ages), and that it was found in morning glory plants. I assumed that it was two evolutionary metabolism pathways in 2 kingdoms, but it turns out ipomoea plants are in symbiosis with fungi closely related to ergot, making "one evolutionary development" more likely. Literally a 2025 discovery!
