Student loans introduced in the UK in 1990 were interest-free in real terms. The original "mortgage-style" loans were designed to accrue interest only at the rate of inflation, meaning the value of the debt did not increase relative to prices
Now we are heading close to the point that when they are repaid the students will have repaid 3 x the loan borrowed
This is not how a country should be run with education as a profit centre
