How does the ad hoc "Enable Repeat Mode" on a #Meshcore companion device work? Not sure how that fits into the dedicated roles thing.
Does it act as a fully functioning repeater AND companion device (like Meshtastic)?

@ratcatcher@beige.party @kimschulz@social.data.coop I believe it switches to different frequency for local group use. It intentionally does not enable the Meshtastic behavior. See here https://blog.meshcore.io/2026/02/13/off-grid-client-repeat-mode or here https://nodakmesh.org/blog/meshcore-off-grid-repeat-guide/

@ratcatcher@beige.party AFAIU this client repeat mode uses DIFFERENT frequencies than the "normal" mesh. So it's more for a group going an a trip in the mountains with their own separate mesh which in itself behaves similar to Meshtastic. These nodes however do not participate in the normal mesh, that's different to Meshtastic. @kimschulz@social.data.coop
