I like to listen to articles and books and the state of text-to-speech on macOS isn't much better than 1997's Fitter Happier on OK Computer. The Siri voices are an improvement over the defaults, but with Apple's improvement in hardware it feels like we haven't had a similar level of improvement in TTS abilities. Anyway, I've been testing out kokoro (https://github.com/hexgrad/kokoro) and I think it's an improvement over the Siri options.
