I don’t really see myself as a mom, so I’m not sad that I don’t get recognized on Mother’s Day. What does make me sad is that today is the day *after* my son’s birthday, his mom planned his birthday party for today instead of his actual birthday because he’d be with her, not me, and then told me I wasn’t invited. (I could not have planned his party for his actual birthday for reasons I’m not willing to discuss here.) So here I am, missing my son‘s birthday party for the first time in his life.
