I feel that the sense of urgency on my case is a "side effect" of being constantly avoidant towards sound, but it provides me reassurance in making music as I know that it's a controlled environment that I can exploit. It's pretty weird, but I think it's a good way to cope when I want to ditch external noise for some time but still need something going on

  • @Lime@post.lurk.org You're absolutely right. It's slightly ironic too that the "safest" world to inhabit (or work to do) is the studio, because here we can control the sonics. Even being with just one other person is less simple than sat in front of two powerful monitors, because a person can make a sudden loud sound, but here we have our hands on the volume. :) (To add to the irony: I've never had an accident in my studio trigger sensory issues, except if someone visits and plays something really loud off their phone speaker to me! ๐Ÿ˜„) Agree also with what you said - it's a good way to cope when external noise is proving too much but we want to create an environment with some (managed) stimulus. ๐Ÿ™
