It’s Bandcamp Friday, and I can’t help but mention my latest release, ‘Otherscapes’ again - an 11-hour collection of previously unreleased works. I was a little sheepish about talking about this (or any aspect of it) before, given the length and all, but apart from the opening twelve tracks or so - which were intended as a broad survey, jolting between different styles to set the parameter space, if you like - the rest then settles into a flow, and was carefully sequenced for that kind of exten...

    Hello, goat! 🇭🇺

It is release day! 🥳 I decided to try a listening party for 'Otherscapes: Unreleased Works 2006- 2026'. The release is very long, and Bandcamp doesn’t let you stop it early - but it might be fun to chat for an hour or so? :) Many thanks to @HAPPENINGHOTDOG@universeodon.com again for his artwork. 🙏 It begins at 7pm UK time. https://robertloganmusic.bandcamp.com/merch/otherscapes-unreleased-works-2006-2026-listening-party

I have put out some music. Feel free to give it a listen. https://robertloganmusic.bandcamp.com/album/otherscapes-unreleased-works-2006-2026

Thank you so much to anyone who contributed to this. 🙏 I was able to tell those family members that a bit of help came through from this strange little place called Mastodon. ☺️ Sharing some of those other reasons behind this release did feel a bit awkward, and I debated not doing it. However, some friends off of here already know the situation, and it seems this place would read it charitably. (haven’t really shared the release anywhere else yet - apart from the message that went out with Bandc...

I can’t tell if the heatstroke has made the improvising worse or the same.

Takeoff. 🇭🇺 (I hope the village lake frogs will be singing!)

@elifyalvac @Maes_Matt @sean_ae @ghostmeet The village lake frogs are already not disappointing on the first day with their microtonal singsong. ☺️ (I love crickets, and they’re totally entitled to their calls too, but after a while I was feeling a bit “okay mate, give it a rest now.” :D )

@HAPPENINGHOTDOG@universeodon.com I imagine so, given how nicely the first two tracks connect. 🙏

@HAPPENINGHOTDOG@universeodon.com This is where I'm at right now. We'll see.

Who wants to watch this live with me? Premiers in 40 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74NluS3jzTo (Yes, adding to the reams of Boards of Canada posts. 🤣)

One day I hope someone realises my dream of seeing Mario and Sonic look after a baby together

When I type Mastodon messages, I look at my word count and make the post do nice symmetries / visual things with the numbers. Is this worrying?

Does anyone know how Kel is doing? I don't seem to be able to contact him. Which is fine, but in truth I just want to know he's keeping on keeping on ok.

Much that is interesting, coherent and satisfying in music and sound can be summed up with “two wrongs make a right.”

And May the Fifths also be with you. 🙏 [sorry it cuts out before I could resolve the sequence; was interrupted.]

Does anyone actually know someone called Ferdinand in real life?

Audio recording involves an ontological flattening of its source material.

May the fourths be with you. 🙏

There’s a lot of suffering one can experience, but nothing quite as bad as really needing the toilet when onto a really good bit in music making. :-(

@HAPPENINGHOTDOG@universeodon.com 😄 Loved that scene. But seems I'm too easy to please, as I loved every scene. This is probably the best. Shame there's no longer clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8XJzDapfDU Or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi-YLIwkfJs

Happy Bandcamp Friday! Many other artists will be posting great music on here that is worth supporting. On my end I wanted to share ‘Habitations’, my last album on Evel Records (with the album ‘Regenesis coming with them 8 months before it) - https://evel.bandcamp.com/album/habitations And ‘Moment’s Notice: Piano Improvisations’ - which some people here had actually a hand in encouraging me to put out: https://robertloganmusic.bandcamp.com/track/moments-notice-piano-improvisations Thank you...

It’s Bandcamp Friday! I hope you don’t mind, but I felt to share my last two releases. There is ‘Habitations’, my most recent album on Evel Records: https://evel.bandcamp.com/album/habitations And then this 53 minute release, constructed from piano improvisations over the last few years: https://robertloganmusic.bandcamp.com/track/moments-notice-piano-improvisations Thank you so much for any support. 🙏

I haven't always connected with Tigran Hamasyan in the past, but his integration of metal, electronic and more explicit Armenian folk elements across the last two albums really hit the spot for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFTthlAZN-c&list=RDZFTthlAZN-c&start_radio=1

@HAPPENINGHOTDOG@universeodon.com I thought that afterwards too, which is quite funny as the the MIDI was all played in live initially - the harmonies and lead...but I ended up playing like an algorithm LOL. And then the internal step sequencing/arp-ing setups sealed the generative-feeling deal. 😄
