i don't know if it would be dynamic enough for a class setting, but there are some free hosting sites like neocities, combined with a static site generator like jekyll or one of the others (also free) you can get a basic site spun up pretty quick and updated in a snap. I suppose it could work for delivering notes/syllabi/texts but wouldn't have the interactive features like forums/comments/user posts

@MelkyWay@fouroclockfarms.club @ccshan@woof.group @unicorne@gayfr.social I use mine for making my slide decks, syllabi, lecture videos, etc be publicly available because I’m not out here teaching special seminars where I need to protect my property. I teach 2000 and 3000 level analytics classes that I truly believe contain knowledge that more people should have. And this way of thinking, which is how I was trained by my mentors, is something that half of academia thinks is right and the other half of academia is trying to shut down.
