@andrewwillmott@mastodon.gamedev.place well there's always Rust :P But yeah the vk dx12 thing is really interesting, big chicken v.s. egg problem with moving stuff out of the driver's wheelhouse, since you then have to figure out how to expose it to an application generically across all the wild hardware permutations. If you were to start today and ignore backwards compatibility it'd be a lot more compelling, but then you never would have shipped anything.
