@laguiri@neopaquita.es @Tattie@eldritch.cafe To add insult to injury, whatever kind of “god” or “religion” is meant here when people say these things un-ironically…it is in their minds some version of Christianity or Wrong Christianity.
Tell these people a Jewish atheist is different from a Christian atheist and they are likely to have a come-apart.

@MisuseCase@twit.social I've written before on this, as I find it interestingly nuanced. Typically the ex-Christian atheist would say "there's no such thing as a 'Christian' or 'Jewish' atheist, as atheism precludes religion", but that understanding is based specifically in Christian doctrine. For this reason "Christian atheist" is indeed very much a contradiction in terms under most understandings*, whereas "Jewish atheist" definitely isn't. * one possible exception: Quakerism @laguiri@neopaquita.es
