I wrote about #autism. Specifically, having an autistic twin; pondering a diagnosis myself; The Telepathy Tapes; pop-psych bullshit; the 90s; life-giving beauty, & stupid deaths.
I recorded an #audio version of it too. 11 minutes long, downloadable wav file.
I feel bad posting Substack links to Mastodon, so I put it on my website. The audio's not up on my site yet but I include the url for the original.

@emma@assemblag.es refreshing to read a sober text on this I've been myself "self-diagnosed" by a third party, i.e. my family one-sidedly decided that: 1. I'm on the spectrum 2. Being on the spectrum is having "little left-overs of perfection from the paradise/god/whatever" The very reduction of the idea to this scheme makes me reactive to the idea of diagnosis. I just prefer to deal with my "quirknesses" individually, without putting a brand on them that might both overdetermine and underdetermine them
