they just built the functionality, implementation by os providers is optional. the correct move, really. it gives os providers the choice to comply or not. in fact, all they *really* did was add an age bucket to a database.

OF COURSE I FUCKING KNOW WHAT A SYSTEMD SERVICE MEANS AND I STILL DON'T LIKE IT! As, apparently, a substantial portion of open source community oposes when open source capitulates to surveillance state laws, just as a matter of principle.
