Some years ago the majestic horse chestnut trees in my neighborhood started getting sick, and the city gardening service started cutting them down, and after a while they started replanting some other ones (red horse chestnuts, presumably resistant to the disease). I remember being upset, at the thought of these scrawny little things replacing the old ones. But, the saying is right, the best day to plant a tree was ten years ago, the next best day is today. #trees #urbannature
