When I see ads like this, I think "Isn't this just Mastodon?"
Masto is smaller, but the engagement there is good.
The moderation is sensible, + if I don't like it, I can change instance.
I personally choose to help pay for the server.
The future is already here, you just didn't notice.

@brambleshadow4@equestria.social unfortunately there's a long list of people reinventing the wheel and gaining more users than an arguably better existing standard for a while now, the example that comes to mind first for me is Bluesky. Mastodon just doesn't have the financial backing to push widespread adoption I suppose.
