Today's deep dive: The International Celestial Reference System https://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/ICRS_doc provides a good (scientific) overview that goes into more details than the wikipedia page. I find it quite interesting to note, that something like, which celestial to use and how to use them is not something that is completely done, even today. Even though we have been doing these observations for centuries and have very precise measurements for almost two centuries. #astronomy #timenuts
