@keir@mastodon.design My thought when I hear this kind of rationalisation is always, why inconvenience your users “in advance” and on devices where this is never going to be relevant anyway? I’m not saying you can’t be right, but I just have a hard time seeing a slider in Music as a sign of a “long game” going on when they seem to be playing it fast and loose with everything around it. Also, the mention about sidebars zooming in and out comes from iPad. It serves zero functional purpose there, just flair.

    @tuomas_h@mastodon.social fair points! I agree, *if* that was the reasoning then ideally it wouldn’t affect devices that wouldn’t support touch but Apple have had a long history of having trouble walking and chewing gum and it’s only got worse as the number of product lines increases and expands so I can’t see them wanting to support anything like an adaptive UI really. One size fits all would probably be their preference 😕
