@cheryanne@aus.social @HardBeingGreen@theblower.au I used to rent a government house too in the early 1980s. Rent was adjusted according to income. By the time we moved out we were paying full market rent. It was our safe haven too when our kids were babies and only one of us was working. I think that the lack of government housing for young families is one of the major factors in the intergenerational equality issue.

    @smitjo@mastodon.au @cheryanne@aus.social I grew up in housing commission, I can't imagine what it would have been like if we didn't have access to it It's part of the reason I dislike Albo so much, I'll never forget the advantages of having secure, affordable housing provided and if I was in his position I'd be doing all I could to ensure people had access to it now
