I often think about how money only has value because The National Goverment Says So, then subsequently think of the scene in Shin Megami Tensei I where you get yeeted 30 years into the future and find that your yen is now useless because the Japanese government got deleted, forcing you to use the shiny new macca currency instead.

This isn't an endorsement of crypto, that shit has too many problems at best and is a scam at worst, but it's interesting to think that currency isn't the only form of economy that's existed. But every major country depends on currency so we're far from re-adopting a currency-less economy.
