@dpiponi@mathstodon.xyz There has been a big uptick in both peak running and cycling performance in recent years, and both sports credit this to consumer-dazzling factors like equipment (aero bikes, magic shoes) and nutrition (top cyclists now train to take on 120g of carbs per hour). I'm suspicious, though, as there is a long history of doping in these sports, and the recently developed practice of carbon monoxide inhalation is likely to be a big factor IMO, potentially in combination with new pharmaceutical performance enhancers.     @sanityinc@hachyderm.io In this case Sawe's sponsors proactively spent a lot of money doing high end dope testing because he knew there would be doubts.
