Aside from Cratippus I am charmed by Diogenes the Dog - the original (that we know of) Stoic.
Alexander the Great; 'You can have anything that is within my power to give you.'
Diogenes; 'Would you mind stepping to one side, you're blocking the sunlight.'

And yeah ... stoicism is more appealing that narcissism ... and we all retain a little cynicism ... ... And while we may live in a metaphorical glass house watched over by Big Brother ... no way would I opt for his attire, eating habits or living quarters :)
