History does repeat ...
And yeah ... stoicism is more appealing that narcissism ... and we all retain a little cynicism ... ...
And while we may live in a metaphorical glass house watched over by Big Brother ... no way would I opt for his attire, eating habits or living quarters :)

@MyView@aus.social Fortunately we are able to focus on his (alleged) conversations rather than his somewhat extreme lifestyle. My particular interest is that these were people who actually *believed* in something, anything, and who also lived the consequences. Diogenes did no harm and yet where would he be in 2026? Socrates pointed to the dangerous flaws in Athenian 'freedoms' and was promptly executed. Plato began cleansing Socrates' ideas as soon as he was in his grave.
