Tech CEOs: Workers MUST be present in the office. The job simply can not be done remotely. Also Tech CEOs: Most workers can be replaced by AI. Hosted remotely.

@saramg@fosstodon.org And both of those beliefs show their contempt for their employees.

@saramg@fosstodon.org I have named the cloud "home office". It's funny to say: I am here, but you push services to the home office.

@saramg@fosstodon.org Also any CEO: most of the time away from office.

@saramg@fosstodon.org Tech CEOs: conversations in the office lead to new techniques and innovation. Also: outsourcing to a semi-random copy/paste machine is the way forward.

@saramg@fosstodon.org has anyone tried Vibe middle-management yet? Or is that what middle-management had always been? 🤔

@saramg@fosstodon.org at the rate they are building AI data centers, the idea of AI being “remote” won’t last long.

@saramg@fosstodon.org I can't believe this hadn't occurred to me before, but: a huge part of RTO was motivated by office real-estate values; assuming for just a moment that they were able to replace a significant portion of employees with stochastic parrots, the landlords are gonna be totally fucked and furious 😛

  • @saramg@fosstodon.org Before “AI” came on the scene, I was watching the “NoCode” movement that was pushing for building tools customized for a business. The biggest issue? People not understanding their business, and thus automating barely controlled chaos at machine speed. As much as I think “AI” may have some benefits in terms of analyzing datasets, and manipulating text interactively, I don’t see how it will suddenly understand business processes and NOT automate chaos at machine speed.

@saramg@fosstodon.org also: tech worker must be 100 % in the office for necessary focus and collaboration but I can work remotely as I’m CEO of three companies.
