Due to reasons, I found myself doing a deep dive on something today which irritates me to no end. In support of the idea that queer people should hide ourselves so as not to offend :blobcatrollingeyes: "normal people" :blobcatrollingeyes: , the guy referenced a study showing that close to 76% of people on Earth were religious. That statistic was used to support the idea that nearly 76% of people were offended by people being publicly queer. Even if it was true that 100% of religions were offended by the mere existence of queer people and 100% of religious people were 100% in agreement with that offense, it wouldn't follow that we (queer people) don't have a right to exist outside of the shadows. It's not true, though. Every religious person is interpreting their religion for themselves. They ignore the parts they don't like and focus on the parts they do like. And when they do that in a way that builds a better world rather than a worse one, more power to them for that. If you're such a miserable shit that you've got to build a god just as hateful as you are, you deserve what you get. The rest of us don't deserve the world you've been building, though.
