Several years ago I was biking - a lot. Over 3,000 miles that year, most of it on a cheap department store bike. One morning I was descending a switchback near a dam. The pavement was still wet. My tires slipped out mid-turn, and I went down hard, skidding across concrete on bare skin for several feet. It hurt. A lot.
