Experiment with pot continues. Wee wild clay pot now leathery and smoothed out. Dried a bit in the shed, but I&#39;ve brought it inside to dry properly upside down. Probably take a couple of days for the next step.

@vik@mastodon.nzoss.nz I made this pot entirely from (and in) my small suburban garden in the UK. It's a very rewarding process. Dug the clay from the middle of a boring monoculture lawn, watered into a slurry, allow it to partially settle, skim floating organic materials, pour off suspension and retain, 1/2

@vik@mastodon.nzoss.nz .. repeat settle/skim/pour until consistent, dry in sun, grind with a rock, add water to preference, coil, shape by hand, cut down tree, dry pot and wood, texture pot with twigs, fill hole in lawn with wood and pot, dig air trench to hole, light fire, waft air into trench, get very very hot (850C ish best estimate, not vitrification but sturdy vase), bury hot coals, cool, dig up and profit.
