A cool new project of mine!
A while ago I got a piano keyboard with backlit keys to try and learn to play some songs without worrying about learning musical notation, but the thing is, it only came in with a few preinstalled songs and no way to add new ones. There is an app for it, but it only lights the keys right when you're supposed to hit them, which kinda defeats the purpose of lighting them up, right? Usually, you would want the keys to be lit in advance so you can prepare yourself to hit the key!
Thankfully the keyboard has USB connectivity so I managed to figure out how the key's light data is sent, and whipped out a quick app that uses a midi file and plays it while lighting the keys in advance! I managed to do in an afternoon what the official app developers never added, so that's cool! Take a look! (Yes the setup is janky and I play bad, it's hard to play while filming)
