@TimWardCam@c.im Even I have original batteries from 2008 still in my closet. I'm pretty sure people who sell these things buy more than a private person.
People still have Game Boys unopened in their Original Packaging. Not everything that is produced is instantly gone for good. People have stock.

@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com Yes, I'm more likely to want a NEW battery than one manufactured in 2008, which might not be that much better than the one I've already got that was manufactured in 2008. Like rubber seals for fridges - sure, they manufactured some spares, and you can buy them decades later, but what use are they if they've suffered from time in exactly the same way as the one you want to replace?
