Cloudflare claims their usage of "AI" has increased "by more than 600% in the last three months alone" And so naturally they're laying off 1100 employees. I'm sure the token fees for their increased demand for slop totally won't eclipse the payroll they've cut. Can't wait for Cloudflare to join the zero nines club... Also wondering whether this impacts Astro at all (which I've certainly also noticed increasing LLM usage, what with the addition of the .agents/skills folder in February). https://blog.cloudflare.com/building-for-the-future/

Oh, supposedly this isn't even about cutting payroll*: "Today’s actions are not a cost-cutting exercise" So then...you're just heartless assholes. Okay. Got it. (Also wondering whether Cloudflare happens to be one of the too-many companies mandating that employees "use AI" even if it actively wastes time, since that sure would explain the alleged 600% increase in use) * It totally is about cutting payroll, but they have to say this to attempt to avoid shareholder panic, which clearly isn't working very well given that their stock price has plummeted by about the same percentage as their total workforce size
