This is the companion job to the telephone handset sanitizers on the b-ark in Hitchhiker's Guide.
I love it actually, there is a really satisfying spring to a fresh telephone cord.

@eestileib@tech.lgbt I always thought that was a made up job as something “intentionally silly and pointless” But no, telephone sanitisers were a real job that spawned from the 1920s flu outbreak and just kept on going into the 70s Offices would pay people to come round regularly and disinfect telephone handsets.
