Wife's employer: We've engaged a 7x surfing world champion to talk about high performance and resilience to you.
Me: You know that, unlike work, surfing is something most people do for fun? And there was only one winner in those events. Everyone else that competed those 7 times failed to win. Aren't you just setting your employees up for frequent failure?

Worse was my employer... Employer: We've engaged a paragliding high performing surgeon to talk to you about resilience. Doctor: I encouraged my wife to go paragliding with me. She was under prepared and had a bad accident, but I made her do it again. This is resilience! Me: So you are encouraging people to take unnecessary risks with insufficient training, then expecting them to keep working afterwards. Great message!

@allrite@masto.allrite.at and that surfers can set their own training priorities rather than getting bogged down in pointless priorities decided on by others
