Parkrun has justified its stance, saying this is aligned with their ethos as a “health and wellbeing charity that provides non-competitive, socially-focused physical activity, and allows people to identify in the way they feel most appropriate and comfortable.”

While there are no Parkruns in Bristol East itself, I know many constituents attend the Eastville Parkrun and enjoy its inclusive spirit. With transgender and non-binary people increasingly excluded from sporting participation, I think it is essential that amateur, non-competitive sporting events like Parkrun remain open to anyone who wants to participate, and that no-one is made to feel uncomfortable or policed while doing so.
