@cascheranno@hachyderm.io @tyzbit@toot.now @iagox86@infosec.exchange What makes the robo-lawnmowers situation special is that there's a unique opportunity right now for someone to take them all out of service before the vendor locks down the backdoor so only they (and whoever pops them, or the government whose jurisdiction they're under, etc.) can use it.

@dalias@hachyderm.io @tyzbit@toot.now @iagox86@infosec.exchange again, an *ocean* of vulnerable devices. how is that unique? And the ocean is cuz no vendor will bother to patch. More to my point, how is bricking $1000-5000 consumer gear ethical? It feels more like a good way to get jail time.
