The dwarven numerals also called Rúmilian were not in fact the "real" or original Rúmilian numerals (see picture). The system was probably a Dwarven innovation/adaptation. Note that the Rúmilian numeral for 1 could be related to the dwarven 1. Rúmilian 4 and 5 seems to have been used by the Dwarves for 2 and 3. The existence of numerals for 11 and 12 indicates that the original Rúmilian system was duodecimal.
