@chu@climatejustice.social I will tell you something - that's a uniquely western fear lmao. Yes there's some of here that grumble, but back during COVID we were using apps to register ourselves everywhere we go (contact tracing).
Our ICs are not just pieces of plastic. (It has chips in it) We use it to get vaccines, we use it to buy things and govt benefits flow through that card.
But compared to China we r small beans. But definitely a lot more data intensive than the US.

@liztai@hachyderm.io We fear that level of surveillance for many reasons. Look at what the US is doing with the data they already have. They are using it to terrorize and deport brown people just cuz. The thing is that we live in a colonial state that got here because of violence. We know the state can do with that data. The US is doing it already.
