@petrosophia@caw.corbode.com Have you ever played any zero-prep GM-less games? e.g. Fiasco, For the Queen, The Quiet Year. If you are familiar with one of those (even better if there's someone else in the group who is too) then you can prep your "main" game, but if you can't face GMing on the night you can switch to the less demanding game. That also means you're going in with less pressure on you to have to be in the right place emotionally and mentally, which can actually mean you end up GMing more often!

    @petrosophia@caw.corbode.com Also, this is more of a "your taste may vary" but: Within games that have a GM and have prep there is still a lot of variation in how demanding they are on the GM. I enjoy running PBTA games, but I find the improvisation and thinking draining. Ditto high rules crunch games. That's why I gravitate a lot to light weight dungeon crawling games (#OSR) as a lot of that is just adjudicating "huh, what would happen next" and then letting the players scheme, so I can sit back more.
