Guided Frame in the camera app of modern Pixel phones is genuinly a life changer for using my phone camera as a blind person. I&#39;ve used it to take good pictures of my cats to send to the family group chat, used it to open a QR code to activate my new credit card, and at least a couple more examples that are escaping my early Saturday morning brain. There&#39;s also a feature where you can swipe down with two fingers to get a scene description. Have yet to test scene descriptions offline, but guided frame at least seems to be all on-device.

According to Google, scene descriptions require an internet connection unless you're on a Pixel 10 or newer, so I barely missed the cutoff. It's still incredibly cool, though.

@TheQuinbox@dragonscave.space just ordered a pixel 10 and this is on my top-reasons list. It's leagues ahead of anything apple has. Do you know if can be made to work with grapheneOS?

@TheQuinbox I sadly have to say that neither Guided Frame nor scene descriptions work offline for me, which made me quite concerned about how much of my camera feed is basically sent to Google just for an accessibility feature. But yeah, when they’re online, they’re awesome.
