@Moosader@mastodon.gamedev.place Yes!! Blender is a really cool software (one of my favourites), and yes you can make animations with the software (and even edit videos!).
The game devving in Blender comes from the Blender Game Engine (https://upbge.org/#/), which is separate from the Blender project itself. I haven't played around with it much, but it's cool to create your assets within your game engine, without having to juggle between different software. You can use Python or the logic nodes to write your game logic in the Blender Game Engine. You can also do some Python scripting within Blender too! I'd like to mention that Godot and Blender works quite well together, so that's a route most people take when getting into FOSS game dev.
A note I'd like to make is that Blender has a steep learning curve. At first it's going to be overwhelming, a lot to take in. It can be easy to give up when you're starting, most of us have been there x3. But take your time with Blender, be patient in your learning! Start simple, start small, and keep expectations reasonable for projects when you're a beginner. There's a lot of tutorials online, and since you have an interest in 3D modelling, I recommend Grant Abbitt's advice on learning 3D modelling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxrOk1HNrpw
Wishing you the best in your blender journey!
