@spiralganglion@merveilles.town c. Great question! I think I'm realizing lyrics need to reflect what I think of the performer. "New kids on the block had a bunch of hits. Chinese food makes me sick." These would be garbage ass lyrics for most, but because the performers don't take themselves very seriously, it works! "My sixteen's free y'all, I'm hip hop's Abe Lincoln." This works because the performer is someone that likes to test listeners.

@psc@mastodon.social re b — it's not uncommon (for me and lot of other folks i know) to be "done" working on something when your hatred of it totally overwhelms your perfectionism and you just abandon it and move on. which agrees with what you said, i just think it's possible to make good music while not liking what you've made.
