@asci@indieweb.social it looks to me like search works fundamentally differently if you're searching from an instance where you DO have an account than where you DON'T have an account
for example, I set indieweb.social as my home instance and it displayed the same set of results as dot social above, so that seems to be just what mastodon displays if you're logged out.
that would explain why these up to date but logged out instances produce a different result from my logged-in instances (both 4.2.17)

@samkeeper@slime.global yea, good finding, thanks! The idea of mastoshare is to redirect to user's home instance, meaning they will be logged in there
