@wakame@tech.lgbt and this is one where the pro PC interfaces, like blender, non-chronological video editors, CAD, etc, all fall behind the lighting software which by default, starts with a basic interface with really clear and labelled structures, accessed in a few key presses (where the key says exactly what it does on the label).
{Channel 1 thru 1 0 at 5 enter} Sets channels 1 to 10 to 50 percent.
{Record Cue 1 Time 5}. Records those values into a cue, with 5 second fade.
Scales up to expert stuff, really clearly.

Obviously custom keyboards aren’t free or easy or even necessary. But there’s still a lot other software designers could learn about how to make a UI & workflow scalable, from novice to expert.

@s0@cathode.church In a way, PC keyboards were "custom" once upon a time. After all, we have keys like "Print Screen", "Scroll Lock" or "Pause" that don't really serve a function anymore. And the F-keys have moved from "programmable function 1 to 12" to weird mappings like "F5 means save" (in a lot of games). So we currently adapt software to match hardware that was designed for a purpose that doesn't exist anymore...
