@eviltrout@carpdiem.online this may be true on its face, but the Reddit API lockdown appears to be in response to scraping by LLM vendors rather than an attempt to profit from API charging - otherwise they would have agreed on a price.
Are we happy that mastodon, in its openness, is entirely open to scraping (enclosure of a commons) by LLM/SALAMI systems?
IMHO it's not really ideal.

@phenidone@mstdn.social could they not have done a different pricing tier for LLM scrapers rather than user mobile apps? I’m pretty sure they just want their users to switch over to their app because of the imminent IPO.
