@andrewrk@mastodon.social Thinking well is hard. First you have the organic part of it: you need rest, low stress, uninterrupted time. You need food. Not just calories, but all those phyto-nutrients too. Your gut microbes need roughage. Then there's the mental "game". You gotta train your brain. Learn to identify fallacies and false connections. Learn the techniques. There are books on how to reason, books on how to read books.

@andrewrk@mastodon.social Something else along those lines is making space for emotional intimacy. It's something we desperately need as humans to become more human, more caring, more empathic. Social media squeezes this out. Heck, even discord isn't that great of a replacement. It's better than other forms, but people -- three-dimensional people -- matter, and they are an important part of being social creatures.
