@IndyRichard@mastodon.scot not naive. I also do not understand why political parties are allowed to privately fundraise at all instead of being given a government budget that covers outreach to promote their official platform. I also think all lobbying materials should be submitted without comment and publicly available for evaluation.

@Cass_m@socialbc.ca @IndyRichard@mastodon.scot Problem with parties being government funded is either (a) established parties could exclude rivals from forming, or (b) grifters would form "parties" merely to access the money. Not insurmountable problems, but neither is putting in place restrictions on how parties can privately fundraise.
