@jedda@social.lol it's miserable. I don't know how people don't remember, or maybe it's not happened to them in a long time.
I explained to my mum what applying for (tech) jobs is like right now. That you're lucky to get a response, and then if you do, you might have some terrible multiple choice quiz to do, and then either live coding a mystery problem or a few hour's homework, on which you might get grilled on your choices.
Mum was amazed. She said you basically used to get hired based on personality.

@jedda@social.lol yep she's a boomer. They walked into jobs. Being hired on personality is a whole other issue in itself, but it was clearly easier.
