So, I dove down a rabbit hole that led to reading some research papers. What I found is that it isn't just anecdotes. The data backs it up - https://belonging.berkeley.edu/press-release-most-metros-us-have-become-more-segregated-1990
That report is from 2021, but I don't really think that the current administration has made improvements in this area. In fact, things are getting worse out here.
The cuts that were made to the Federal workforce were extremely damaging to the black community.

For a lot of us, government employment was one of the few ways that we could break into the professional workforce. The reason for this was that public disclosure laws, strict human resources policies, and early civil rights made it possible to get hired in government as a black worker. This means that firing Federal workers isn't just a "cost cutting" measure. It's yet another way to push black people out and return to an earlier era of American life. 4/20
