@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @regehr@mastodon.social @penguin42@mastodon.org.uk I don't totally remember the history, but I think that might have been a retroactive thing? There was this attempt to frame NEON as a superset of VFP, which almost-but-not-quite makes sense on a big core that has both, and I think the NEON-ish aliases ended up as the preferred spellings because of that.
