@aburka@hachyderm.io @regehr@mastodon.social @penguin42@mastodon.org.uk CPLDs virtually always hold a program internally, FPGAs usually do not but there are exceptions. nonvolatile FPGAs tend to be their own specific famillies used for applications where instant-on is very important

@aburka@hachyderm.io @regehr@mastodon.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems I think there are some; but as I understand it, Flash silicon processes are very different from all others - so it's much easier to get a nice dense FPGA on a normal process, and then just tack on your favourite flash.
