RE: https://mastodon.social/@benroyce/116538946427999752 This post so perfectly summarises my feelings on this issue. As someone who has worked as a lawmaker, I fear we spend far too much time demonising reasonable people who we can work and compromise with, and not enough time fighting the people who are really a threat.

@jmaris@eupolicy.social europe: listen to this american watching their democracy crumbling toxic idealism is, at best, a right wing troll psyop. where it is someone's genuine thoughts and not an actual troll psyop, it's misdirection of energy and attention, and only rewards the right in the end anyways you get better or worse in the world, that's it better requires real work shouting for perfection online is not work, it's a psychological exercise that backfires it is not effective ideology nor morality

@jmaris@eupolicy.social the first step to constructively working to make things better is admitting there is a problem. And a sugar-coated PR post saying that everything is great - like the one celebrating EU trust metrics - is the opposite of admitting there is a problem.

  • @jmaris@eupolicy.social yes, this💯 i get so frustrated by people supposedly on the left, who spend more effort attacking others on the left for their "failings" than going after the actual fascists at some point, if i can't distinguish someone's posts from that of a Richt-wing troll, then why should i believe they're actually on our💙side?
